Dulux® AcraTex® and Kingspan Insulation, two industry icons, have partnered to develop the Exsulite-Kooltherm Thermal Facade System – a fully integrated, lightweight External Insulation and Finishing System (EIFS).

The Exsulite-Kooltherm Lightweight Cladding System by Dulux AcraTex provides a weatherproof building and high insulation facade system for various residential and multi-residential installations.

Exsulite-Kooltherm Thermal Facade System by Dulux AcraTex provides a weatherproof cladding and insulation system for various Residential and Multi-Residential applications. It can also be installed to masonry & concrete substrates in accordance with Dulux AcraTex project specific design fixing specification.

Exsulite-Kooltherm Thermal Facade System is designed as a total integrated lightweight non-load bearing facade system to deliver a weatherproof external building envelope with a self draining cavity for moisture management whilst providing high thermal performance (R value).

Exsulite-Kooltherm is CodeMarkTM certified as a fully integrated facade system in compliance with the BCA1.

Exsulite-Kooltherm is suitable for FRL and BAL applications in accordance with AS 1330.42.

Integration of system design, components and installation is delivered through Dulux AcraTex Exsulite Trained & Registered Installers to ensure the build meets design specification.

Exsulite-Kooltherm Thermal Facade System by Dulux AcraTex provides a weatherproof cladding and insulation system for various Residential and Multi-Residential applications. It can also be installed to masonry & concrete substrates in accordance with Dulux AcraTex project specific design fixing specification.

Exsulite-Kooltherm Thermal Facade Systems are used as light weight integrated facade system as an alternative to masonry systems in the Multi-Residential and Residential construction classified as:

Multi-Residential External Walls to NCC Volume One, Class 2 to 9 buildings with wind loads calculated in accordance with AS/NZS 1170.2.

Residential External Walls to NCC Volume Two, Class 1 and 10 buildings with wind loads to either:

AS/NZS 1170.2
or
AS 4055 “Wind loads for housing” for Wind Classifications N1, N2, N3, N4, N5, N6 and Cyclonic Regions C1, C2, C3 and C4 within the AS4055 limitations less than 8.5m in height and less than 16m in width and where the length does not exceed five times the width and roof pitch does not exceed 35 degrees, fixed to either steel or timber frames.

Integration of System Design, Components and Installation is delivered by a Dulux AcraTex Exsulite Trained & Registered Installer to ensure the build meets the design specification.

System installation and job quality control documentation is project managed by a Dulux AcraTex Exsulite Trained & Registered Installer to ensure all jobs are installed in accordance with Exsulite-Kooltherm Thermal Facade System specifications.

Exsulite Uses Multi Storey Parkville

All design and construction must comply with the appropriate requirements of the current Building Code of Australia (BCA) regulations. The BCA is comprised of two volumes. The volumes divide the types of building into two groups being Volume 1:Class 2 to Class 9 Buildings and Volume 2:Class 1 & Class 10 Buildings – Housing Provisions. All the regulations for construction of buildings are contained in these volumes.

The Exsulite-Kooltherm Thermal Facade System is CodeMarkTM certified1 as a total integrated facade system in compliance with the Building Code of Australia’s performance criteria for:

CodeMark certification2 provides building certifiers with the confidence that the system performs against these criteria and together with an “Exsulite-Kooltherm Certificate of Installation” from a Dulux AcraTex Exsulite Trained & Registered Installer confirms that the build meets the design specification at job completion.

Exsulite-Kootherm Thermal Facade Systems offers high insulating performance up to R7 relative to specific system specification.

Thermal efficiency is optimised by the inherent insulating performance of the Exsulite-Kootherm panel and its placement as a continuous “outer” barrier thus reducing the impact of thermal bridging prevalent in non-insulating cladding systems where cavity insulation is placed between studs. Exsulite-Kooltherm systems are available in 50 or 80mm panel thickness (increasing R-Value with panel thickness) and with or without additional cavity batt insulation where even higher insulating performance is required.

The following Exsulite-Kooltherm SmartRate R-Value reports are calculated in accordance with the principles outlined in the Building Code of Australia (2012) and should be read in conjunction with the nominated system design detail.

Bushfire Attack Levels (BAL)

The NCC Vol 2 (Part 3.7.4) covers the fire requirements for Bushfire Areas. In the AS 3959 Construction of Buildings in Bushfire Prone Areas products tested to the requirements of (30/30/30) OR (-/30/30) tested to AS 1530.4 can be used in all areas. The Exsulite-Kooltherm Thermal Facade System can be used in all BAL areas1.

Fire Resistant Levels (FRL)

Fire Resistance Level (FRL) is tested and expressed as the minimum amount of time (in minutes) that a building element can resist a fire as defined by three separate indices

  • Structural adequacy (ability to withstand loads);
  • Integrity (in terms of containing smoke, flames and gases); and
  • Insulation (in terms of limiting the temperature on one side of the element getting through to the other side).

Exsulite-Kooltherm Thermal Facade Systems have been tested to NCC requirements of C1.1 Fire-Resisting Construction in accordance with the Australian testing procedure for the Fire Resistance Levels (FRL) to AS 1530.4 and can be used where a FRL walling system is required relative to specific system criteria as defined in the relevant system FRL certification2.

Exsulite-Kootherm Facade Systems are available meeting FRL (30/30/30) or (60/60/60) or (90/90/90) FRL performance criteria. Where required to meet specific FRL performance criteria, only full and complete systems, installed in accordance with the relevant Exova Warrington Certificate Of Assessment and Exsulite-Koolterm Facade System Installation Manual & Construction Drawings can be used. Dulux AcraTex does not approve nor endorse the use of any non-standard or non-approved system components that are outside of the Exova Warrington Certificate Of Assessment. Where a Fire Rated Level (FRL) wall is specified please refer to Dulux AcraTex for a Project Specific FRL Specification3.

Typical use of a FRL system in accordance with the NCC Vol 2 (Part 3.7.1) details the requirements in residential buildings for fire resistance for external walls where the external wall is less than 0.9m from an allotment boundary or less than 1.8m from a building on the same allotment. In these circumstances a Fire Resistance Levels (FRL) wall is required from the outside of not less than (60/60/60) performance rating.
